More Lyrics!

My musical repertoire has expanded greatly this year. Not many boundaries left unexplored. Huh, I hope it doesn't get boring now. Though I heard that Audioslave is coming to the Meadows in November.... GAWTA GO! I was pissed when they sent me to DC and I had to forfeit my tickets for Staind and Breaking Benjamin. Love that song, "So Cold". Of course, the written lyrics tell a slightly different story than my initial exposure to it. My first listen was in a video manufactured using scenes from Half-Life 2 where the song, tied with the images, tells a story of hope and surmounting the odds in a realm of chaos and disparity. Since I'm talking about it, I'll toss up the lyrics for that song as well as the Incubus tune I'm enjoying today.

Breaking Benjamin So Cold

Crowded streets all cleared away
One by One
Hollow heroes separate
As they run

You're so cold
Keep your hand in mine
Wise men wonder while
Strong men die

[Chorus]

Show me how it ends it's alright
Show me how defenseless you really are
Satisfied and empty inside
That's alright, let's give this another try

If you find your family, don't you cry
In this land of make-believe, dead and dry

You're so cold, but you feel alive
Lay your hands on me one last time

[Chorus x2]

It's alright [x9]

Incubus Neither of us Can See

BB: I am one big walking chemical reaction
CH: A buzzing hive of cell synapsis and nascent self perception

BB: Isn't it disdainful and curious
CH: That both of us think we know everything

BB:
We both have pains
We both have eyes
(Neither of us can see)
We both have pains
We both have eyes
(Neither of us can see)
One in the same
Two of a kind
And neither of us can see

CH: I am just a blinking neon roadside attraction
BB: I sow future wrinkles and I’m told I’m tapped potential

CH: Isn't it disdainful and curious
BB: That both of us think we know everything

BB:
We both have pains
We both have eyes
(Neither of us can see)
We both have pains
We both have eyes
(Neither of us can see)
One in the same
Two of a kind
And neither of us can see

BB: I am one big fleeting errant contradiction
CH: So good to meet you we are one in the same

BB: Isn't it disdainful and curious
CH: That both of us think we know everything

BB:
We both have pains
We both have eyes
(Neither of us can see)
We both have pains
We both have eyes
(Neither of us can see)
One in the same
Two of a kind
And neither of us can see

Institute Bullet-Proof Skin

Cold to disappear
I missed you more these days
And all these tattooed angels
Have brought me back today

I'm a wasted boy, empty master plan
Been stuck inside this lonely room again
You get paranoid, see vultures circling
Want to sleep with them down comes the final curtain
Until, you come, into your soul again
We'll be the worst of best friends
Does it feel like Christmas in Hollywood?
Does it feel like we're ever going to make it home?

Burn, baby burn
Strung out on a wire
Heart in a cage
You’re so full of desire
You need, fast hands
To deal with all the liars
So don’t burn baby burn baby burn

It’s a waste of joy, I can hardly stand
Been looking for the ramp for my escape
And of animals, so close to perfect
They're the only ones who seem to know their heart
Does it feel like Christmas in Hollywood?
Does it feel like we could ever come undone?

Burn, baby burn
Strung out on a wire
Heart in a cage
You’re so full of desire
You need, fast hands
To deal with all the liars
Bullet-proof skin to keep you alive
Burn, baby burn
Strung out on a wire
So don’t burn baby burn baby burn

I can't hold you, I can't hold you, I can't hold you
To lose you is to never love again
To lose you is to never love again
To lose you is to never love again
To lose you...

Green Day Whatsername

Thought I ran into you down on the street,
Then it turned out to only be a dream,
I made a point to burn all of the photographs,
She went away and then I took a different path,
I remember the face,
But I can't recall the name,
Now I wonder how whatsername has been

Seems that she disappeared without a trace,
Did she every marry old what's his face,
I made a point to burn all of the photographs,
She went away and then I took a different path,
I remember the face,
But I can't recall the name,
Now I wonder how whatsername has been

Remember, whatever,
It seems like forever ago,
Remember, whatever,
It seems like forever ago,
The regrets are useless,
In my mind,
She's in my head,
I must confess,
The regrets are useless,
In my mind,
She's in my head,
From so long ago

And in the darkest night,
If my memory serves me right,
I'll never turn back time

Forgetting you, but not the time

Shinedown Fly From the Inside

Here's the weight of the world on my shoulders
Here's the weight of the world on my shoulders
On my shoulders
All alone I pierce the chain
And on and on the sting remains
And dieing eyes consume me now
The voice inside screams out loud

[Chorus:]
I am focused on what I am after
The key to the next open chapter
Cause I found a way to steal the sun from the sky
Long live that day that I decided to fly from the inside

Every day a new deception
Pick your scene and take direction
And on and on I search to connect
But I don't wear a mask and I have no regrets

I am focused on what I am after
The key to the next open chapter

[Chorus]

I can't escape the pain
I can't control the rage
Sometimes I think that I'm gonna go insane
I'm not against what's right
I'm not for what's wrong
I'm just making my way and I'm gone

Here's the weight of the world on my shoulders

[Chorus x2]

Shinedown Lacerated (a summer fav)

Turn on the lights, paint me a tapestry
Go start a fire, get close to the gasoline
I followed you to the deep end
I was helpless but still you pulled me in
Now I'm caught in the tide
Lost in the eyes of envy
For whom it concerns
Some never learn

She lacerated me, exposing me piece by piece
She saw a weakness in me, and used it against me
She lacerated me

Turn out the lights, make me a porcelain doll
Whisper your secrets, can't get to the truth at all
I reached out again and again
I could never believe you'd do me in

Now I'm caught in the tide
Lost in the eyes of envy
For whom it concerns
Some never learn

She lacerated me, exposing me piece by piece
She saw a weakness in me, and used it against me
She lacerated me, and now I have nowhere to go
She lacerated me

She lacerated me, and now I have nowhere to go
She lacerated me, release me from all I see
She lacerated me
She lacerated me

Ok, being sick sucks. But I finally have time to look up the lyrics to these songs. Coolness. But I definitely need my rest for Wednesday morning. Yeesh!

I could post hundreds of songs, I guess. LOL The more I go through my playlists, the more I'm looking up and they could span thousands of pages. So I'll leave it here for now.

Hey Shelley, I got the mud volleyball pics, but I never thought to swap you some of my new music. When you're down this weekend make sure you remind me, I've got TONS for you.

Also, I rip it all at 320 kbps, so it is 100% verbatim from the CD. That means you can play it through a 600 watt stereo like mine and have zero distoriton. ;) It also means they take up more space on the drive, but whateve.... that's what massive drives are FOR! =)

Hope yer enjoying the weather up there today. I am going to go sit outside and force myself to read a few more pages of the latest novel, "A Brother's Price." It's a difficult one for me to read, as it is based in a Matriarchal society where men are rare and treated like female slaves... sold to families as studs for breeding. It's not so much the topics, but the writing that hurts.... it sucks. And yet this person was PUBLISHED!?!? It's when I read things like this that I recomit myself to writing. There is no excuse for this woman to be making money for such drivel while I sit back and do nothing. Tsk Tsk.
